Applying for an Alarm Permit is Easy

In an effort to make it easier to do business with the City of Arlington, several ways are offered for our Corporate Community to apply for a Burglar Alarm Permit. From applying online at, to obtaining an Application and returning it by mail to the Alarm Office, to visiting the Alarm Office in person, Arlington makes it easy to apply for a burglar alarm permit.

If Business Owners have an alarm system installed that emits an audible alarm, they are required by City Ordinance to obtain a permit. The cost of the permit is $50 payable once a year.

False alarm calls continue to drain resources with over 90 percent of alarm calls being false. In 2003, the City implemented a no permit, no response policy unless the request for Police is a panic or holdup alarm.  Under the City of Arlington Alarm Ordinance, permit holders are allowed three false alarm calls in a 12-month period. Owners are assessed a $50 administrative fee for the fourth and fifth calls, $75 for the sixth and seventh calls, and $100 for each false alarm call after the seventh call.
